IS TECHNOLOGY A FRIEND OR FOE?
Addiction is defined as the dependency on a particular substance or activity and, Cancer is the destruction caused by a fast-uncontrolled growth.
When I look back at the impact of technology on our enterprises, I see it as an addiction and a cancerous growth.
Since the arrival of the first commercial computers system LEO (the Lyons Electronic Office) in 1952, there has been an uncontrolled growth in enterprise technology.
Meanwhile, we have progressed through all the stages of addiction. From euphoria to depression, withdrawal and dependency, while remaining in denial and, despite all efforts, cybersecurity is weakening rapidly against the growing attacks.
Cancer is no longer a death sentence, and addictive habits can be altered.
Similarly, the enterprises’ health can also be restored.
Technology can be an incredible ally when applied responsibly.
We must apply behavioural changes to enterprise software technology, enabling the underlying enterprises’ core business health to flourish once more.
THE FIRST STEP IS ACCEPTANCE.
